Paolo Renosto

Paolo Renosto (born October 10, 1935 in Florence , † February 10, 1988 ) was an Italian composer , conductor and pianist .

Renosto trained at the Conservatory in his hometown of Florence, where he studied piano and composition. He later became a student, collaborator and true friend of Bruno Maderna , who as the official conductor was responsible for the premieres of two of Renosto's most important compositions, Forma op.7 (1968) and Nacht (1969). Renosto later dedicated the composition Concerto per pianoforte e orchestra (1975) to Maderna .

Renosto was the author of symphonic, choral, chamber music, solo and incidental music compositions. He was also a music critic and historian, and he worked with RAI as the creator and host of several radio programs devoted to contemporary classical music . He also composed, sometimes under the pseudonym Lesiman , themed music for films, television programs and documentaries. He died of a heart attack. He taught at the Faculty of the Bologna Conservatory , where one of his students was Chiara Benati.
