Abdul Hakim Sani Brown ( Japanese サ ニ ブ ラ ウ ン ・ ア ブ デ ル ・ ハ キ ー ム , born March 6, 1999 in Kitakyūshū , Fukuoka Prefecture ) is a Japanese athlete who specializes in sprinting .

Athletic career

Abdul Hakim Sani Brown gained his first international experience in 2015 at the Youth World Championships in Cali , where he won gold medals over 100 and 200 meters in 10.28 s and 20.34 s. He also qualified in the 200-meter run for the World Championships in Beijing and reached the semi-finals there at the age of only sixteen , in which he was eliminated with 20.47 s. Two years later he took part in the 100 and 200 meters at the World Championships in London and was eliminated in the semifinals over 100 meters with 10.28 s , while he came seventh over 200 meters in 20.63 s in the final . In 2019 he took part in the World Championships in Doha in the 100-meter run , where he was eliminated again in the semifinals with 10.15 seconds . He also won the bronze medal behind the teams from the United States and the United Kingdom with the Japanese 4 x 100 meter relay in a new Asian record of 37.43 s.

In 2017 and 2019, Sani Brown became the Japanese champion over 100 and 200 meters. He is a student at the University of Florida and became a 2019 NCAA college champion in the 4-by-100-meter relay.
