Paolo Rustichelli (* 1953 in Rome ) is an Italian-American pianist , composer and producer . His music is varied, but usually belongs to the genres smooth jazz , jazz rock and progressive rock .

Career

Rustichelli is the son of Oscar nominee Carlo Rustichelli . He pioneered the use of monophonic synthesizers such as ARP 2600 and Minimoog , Hammond Novachord, Hammond C3 organ and Mellotron . He composed and produced various film soundtracks and a progressive rock album, Opera Prima (RCA 1973). Top Box Office European films such as Amici Miei atto III, La croce dalle sette pietre, and Testa o Croce are among the many scores made entirely with synthesizer .

His jazz rock album Mystic Man (1996) included contributions from Miles Davis , Carlos Santana , Herbie Hancock , Wayne Shorter , Andy Summers and Jill Jones . The song Paisa reached the top ten of the Radio & Records Smooth Jazz / NAC charts.

Mystic Jazz's song Full Moon was composed for Carlos Santana. The tenor Plácido Domingo sang Paolo Rustichelli's Kyrie on his album Sacred Songs (2002). The song My Geisha from the album Neopagan reached the top ten of the radio and records Smooth Jazz / NAC charts in 2006 and 2007.

Med Groove from the album Soul Italiano reached number 1 on the Smoazz.com charts and was an Amazon.com smooth jazz bestseller at number 1 for several weeks in January and February 2014. Rustichelli's single Hypnofunk (2019) is a musical celebration of the psychedelic era with a hip hop rhythm.
