Papenholz is a part of the Witten district of Heven . On December 31, 2015, it had a total of 67 inhabitants. Pape wood in the north of the city and adjacent to the Bochum district Langendreer (district: Cold Hardt ). Apart from one of the last farms in Witten, there is no industry or craft in the district . Since there is a small forest between Heven and Papenholz and Bochum-Kaltehardt does not supply the district, Papenholz is / was not connected to the sewer system . Most of the district is covered by a forest, on the edge of which the A 44 runs.

history

In the Middle Ages the area belonged to the Roman Catholic Church . He owes its original name Popenholz ( Pope is a corruption of the term pastor ). Until 1929 parts of the forest still belonged to Langendreer, in the course of the municipal reform of 1929 it was almost completely transferred to the city of Witten.
