Kaltehardt

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Kaltehardt is part of the Langendreer district of Bochum . It is located in the south of Langendreer, bordering the city of Witten and the Querenburg district of Bochum . From the point of view of spatial planning , Kaltehardt forms the statistical quarter number 62, which together with seven other quarters forms the statistical district Langendreer.

Kaltehardt owes its name to its location on the northern slope of the Westerberg : when the area was not as densely built up as it has been since the last third of the twentieth century, it was cold there longer in winter than in the surrounding areas. The snow was higher in winter and stayed there for a long time. The part of the name -hardt means "mountain forest" or "wooded slope".

Also worth mentioning is the Kaltehardt 1915 gymnastics and sports club, which can be divided into a billiards and soccer department. The latter in particular is one of the established associations in the Bochum urban area. In the 2015/2016 season, the 1st team entered the district league. The home of TuS Kaltehardt 1915 is the K-PLUS-Arena on Urbanusstraße in Bochum-Langendreer.
