Marmelshagen
Marmelshagen was a small peasantry in the Middle Ages and is now part of the Hofstede district of Bochum .
geography
The peasantry was north of the Hofsteder Bach in the area where the Dorstener and Riemker Strasse intersect today. It bordered on Eickel and belonged to the rural community Hofstede. In 1904 she came to Bochum with the incorporation of Hofstede.
history
In the treasury of the county of Mark from 1486 a Henrick and a Bathe to "Malmenshagen" were mentioned. In the list of manors and farms from 1519, the farmers were called "Malmishaghen".
In the 19th century the larger garden taverns "Restauration Bergmann" by Heinrich Bergmann (destroyed in World War II) and "Zum Kaisergarten" by Friedrich Schulte were created. The attractions included the “Hero and Leander Fountain” and the “Three Emperors Grotto” in the gardens.
The parish church St. Nikolaus von Flue, built in 1955, belongs to the district . Today the choral society MGV Einigkeit 1880 Bochum-Marmelshagen still exists. The soccer club SV Phönix Bochum, founded in 1910, still exists today.
