Weitmar-Mitte is a district of Weitmar in the Bochum-Südwest district . Its center point is the intersection of Hattinger Strasse and Blumenfeldstrasse.

Hard coal was mined in the Flora mine until the 1960s .

Infrastructure

In Weitmar-Mitte you will find a variety of shopping opportunities and good medical care from various doctors and pharmacies.

A weekly market takes place every Thursday on Matthäusstrasse.

Weitmar-Mitte is easily accessible by public transport using the tram lines 308 and 318 and the Bogestra bus lines 346, 354 and 394 .

After the municipal Brantrop primary school was closed in 2012 and demolished in 2015, the Matthias Claudius primary school (private) still exists in Weitmar . The Matthias Claudius Comprehensive School (private) is also located in the district.
