Westenfeld is a district of Bochum in the district of Bochum-Wattenscheid .

history

Westenfeld (then Westanfelda) was first mentioned in the records of the Werden monastery in 890. The municipality of Westenfeld was incorporated into Wattenscheid on April 1, 1926, when the law regulating the new municipal boundaries in the Rhenish-Westphalian industrial districts came into force. A smaller part was reclassified to Bochum. With the incorporation of Wattenscheid, the main part of the original community of Westenfeld came to Bochum on January 1, 1975.
