features

The moths reach a wingspan of 70 to 90 millimeters. The forewings have a black basic color, but are characterized by a light blue area in the basal region and disk region . The median vein is highlighted in black. There is a small black spot on the discoid cross vein. The submarginal region is lightened. There are numerous scent scales in the area of the inner corner . The hind wings are black and are characterized by a light blue area in the basal region and half of the disk region. In the submarginal region there are several broad, blue arc spots that increasingly fade towards the inner edge. The outer edge is strongly wavy and has a wide tail extension. The region around the body is dusted with green scales .

The underside of the forewings has little in common with the upper side. The wings are brown and are heavily pollinated with individual, white scales. There is a light brown spot on the inner edge of the disk region. The triangle interior angle-apex-interior edge of the border between the submarginal region and the post-disk region- interior angle is clearly lighter than the rest of the wing. All wires in this area are highlighted in brown. The underside of the hind wings is dark brown and is heavily pollinated with individual, white scales. The area from the discoid transverse artery to the inner edge of the disc region is significantly lighter than the rest of the wing. In the submarginal region there are several eyes that contain orange, black, blue and light brown.

There are no gender differences in the wing drawings. Only with the help of the scent scales, which only occur in males, can one differentiate between the two sexes.
