features

butterfly

The moths reach a wingspan of 90 to 110 millimeters. The forewings have a black basic color, but are characterized by a turquoise-green area in the basal region and disk region . In addition to the turquoise-green area, there are more and more furry spots. A triangular area runs from the submarginal region to the post- disk region. The hind wings have a black basic color. The rear wings are also characterized by a turquoise-green area in the basal and discal regions. There are several green arc spots in the submarginal region. The outer edge has a wide tail extension.

The underside of the forewings has little in common with the upper side. The wings are brown. The triangle between the inner angle and the apex inner edge of the border between the submarginal region and the postdiscal region and the inner angle is significantly brighter than the rest of the wing. All wires in this area are highlighted in brown. The front edge is colored a little lighter. The underside of the hind wings is dark brown and is heavily pollinated with individual, white scales in the basal region and disk region. The submarginal region is significantly brighter than the rest of the wing. At the border to the post-disk region there are several eyes, which contain orange, black, blue and light brown. The inner edge is colored a little lighter.

The body is black and heavily pollinated with individual, green scales.

The only difference between males and females are the furry areas on the forewings, which are not found in females.
