Papyrus 80 (named after Gregory-Aland with Sigel 80 ) is an early Greek copy of the New Testament . This papyrus manuscript contains parts of the Gospel of John . Only verse 3.34 has survived. The first editors dated it to the 3rd century using paleography . However, recent studies tend to date the papyrus to the 5th or 6th century due to the inclined shape of the capitals .

The Greek text probably represents the Alexandrian text type , but the text is too short to determine its textual character. Aland placed him in Category I because of his age . If the age argument is omitted (see above), the manuscript has no special textual value. A special feature, however, is that Papyrus 80 belongs to the small group of so-called Bible oracles , like Papyrus 63 , for example .

The manuscript was kept in the Fundación Sant Lluc Evangelista (inv. No. 83) in Barcelona and is now in Abadia de Montserrat under the signature of P. Barc. 83.
