The Papyrus Switzerland AG (until August 2010 Sihl + Eika Papier AG) based in Thalwil is in the paper industry operating Swiss trading company . It sells all types of paper and cardboard . This includes paper and paper products for the office sector , preprinted paper and paper products, envelopes , packaging and packaging materials, and hygiene paper . The company employs 175 people and in 2015 generated sales of over 125 million Swiss francs.
history
The company was founded in 1984 by the two paper manufacturers Eika-Papier-Gruppe and Sihl-Zürcher Papierfabrik an der Sihl as a paper wholesaler. Here, the administrative staff of Eika Papier AG , based in Dietlikon, was brought together with the Sihl trading team. The previous Sihl sales offices in Bern and Lausanne were taken over by Sihl + Eika. In 1993 the new logistics center in Dintikon was put into operation.
In 1998 the company moved from Zurich to Thalwil. In the same year Sihl + Eika merged with the German Schneidersöhne group. This acquired 50 and 30 percent of the shares from the two previous shareholders Sihl Zurich and Epicea Holding .
In 2005, the Schneidersöhne Group was in turn taken over by the Finnish-Swedish Stora Enso Group , the world's largest manufacturer of paper and packaging materials. The 80 percent stake in Sihl + Eika was transferred to Stora Enso or its subsidiary Papyrus , which is active in the paper and packaging wholesaling , which two years later bought the remaining 20 percent from Epicea Holding . In April 2008, Stora Enso sold its Papyrus subsidiary to the Swedish financial investment company Altor . In August 2010, Sihl + Eika Papier AG was finally renamed Papyrus Schweiz AG.
