Parachute Records

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Parachute Records was a sub-label of Casablanca Record & FilmWorks , founded in 1976 by Russ Regan. Regan was previously President of MCA Records and is considered the discoverer of Elton John and Barry White . After MCA dumped him, he founded Parachute Records.

History of the label

Parachute Records was based in the Casablanca Record & FilmWorks Complex (8255 Sunset Boulevard , Los Angeles ). The buildings had already housed MCA's Universal City Records , which Regan ran from 1967 to 1972 . However, he had no luck with Parachute, as he did not succeed in engaging artists who subsequently had resounding success. His contract with Casablanca, which had initially been closed for three years, was not renewed by Neil Bogart , so that Parachute Records had to close in 1979.
