Peter Mühldorfer

Peter Mühldorfer (* 1946 in Weilimdorf ) is a German painter, graphic artist and illustrator .

Life

Mühldorfer initially grew up in Stuttgart until his family moved to Munich in 1950. After finishing school he tried his hand at journalism , graphics and photography before discovering his love for painting in 1970 . In 1971 he moved to Italy, where he lived and worked until 1973. He met Donna Summer , they fell in love, and Summer left her husband, Helmuth Sommer.

In 1976 Casablanca Records released Donna Summers record Four Seasons of Love in the USA , and the singer, who also lived in Munich, was needed for promotional purposes in Los Angeles. Mühldorfer visited her more often and eventually stayed in LA after Casablanca boss Neil Bogart had given him the opportunity to open a gallery ( Casablanca ArtWorks ) in the city. In January 1977, Donna Summer had a breakthrough when Love to Love you Baby was released, and with success the differences in the relationship began to materialize. The couple later separated.

Mühldorfer ran his gallery until 1979 and, in addition to his own pictures, showed works by Alexander Calder , Victor Vasarely and Richard Lindner.In addition, a lithograph series was created in New York in 1977 , which was also exhibited there before Mühldorfer returned to Germany, where he also made a name for himself as an illustrator for books, magazines and records.

From 1983 he worked mainly in Cologne, where wall paintings and installations were created, since 1999 he has lived and worked in Munich again.
