Paradisio was a Belgian Eurodance band that was active from 1994 to 2003. Her biggest hit was the 1996 song Bailando .

Band history

When the two Belgian music producers Patrick Samoy and Luc Rigaux, known as Unity Power or the Unitiy Mixers , met the Spanish singer Marísa García Asensio in the mid-1990s, they decided to start the music project Paradisio . With a mixture of Eurodance and Spanish rhythms and the Spanish singing of Asensio, they started with the debut single Un clima idéal in the summer of 1995 and thus had their first chart hit.

The single Bailando followed the following year . After the song was hesitantly accepted in the French-speaking part of Belgium at the beginning of the year, the big breakthrough came in the summer. Half a year after entering the chart, it reached the highest position on the Wallonia charts with number 8 and in Flanders it was number 2 for five weeks. Then Bailando was also published in France, it also came to number 4 and sold almost half A million times. Paradisio then celebrated their greatest success in the spring and summer of 1997 in Northern Europe. In Sweden , Norway and Finland the song became a number one hit. In Sweden, Bailando became one of the most successful singles ever and was awarded triple platinum .

In Germany the song also became a number one hit, but only in 1998 in a cover version of the Dutch music project Loona , which also came in third place in Austria. The song was covered several times afterwards, in 2006 Disco Bee was again successful in the charts with a discomix in Austria (place 25).

The next single from Paradisio was Bandolero , but it was a bit lost in the success of Bailando . Only the following publication Vamos a la discoteca! was able to build on the big hit again and reached the top 10 in the north and the top 20 in Belgium and France. At the end of 1997 the album Paradisio was released , but it was only moderately successful.

1998 did not go as well as the years before. The singles Dime como and Paseo were only found under "also ran" and before the release of Samba del diablo in the summer of 1999, the singer García Asensio was replaced by Sandra De Gregorio. However, there was no further chart success , the single Propaganda in 2000 was still a respectable success.

In 2003 the project was completely reissued. Producers this time were AB Logic (Peter Gillis and Jacques Bultinck) and the singer was called Maria del Rio, but Luz de la luna was the last release of this project at the end of almost 10 years of existence.

In 2009 there was a new edition of Bailando in a Belgian TV show under the name Paradisio, but nothing more was known about it.
