Paralichthodes algoensis is a flatfish that can grow to a length of 50 centimeters and islikely to be found in the southwestern Indian Ocean and in the southeastern Atlantic around the southern tip of Africa. So far it has only been found in Maputo Bay in southern Mozambique and Mossel Bay on the coast of South Africa .
features
Paralichthodes algoensis has 30 to 31 vertebrae . The side of the eye is gray-brown with dark spots. The beginning of the dorsal fin is in front of the eyes. The lateral line organ runs in a clear curve over the pectoral fin .

Systematics
Paralichthodes algoensis was the only member of the subfamily Paralichthodinae in the family of clods (Pleuronectidae). The American ichthyologist Joseph S. Nelson raises the subfamily to the family rank and places it in the superfamily of sole species (Soleoidea).
