Parashkev Hadschiev

Paraschkew Todorov Chadschiew ( Bulgarian Парашкев Тодоров Хаджиев ; born April 14 . Jul / 27. April  1912 greg. In Sofia ; † 28. April 1992 ) was a Bulgarian composer.

Chadschiev studied composition with Pantscho Wladigerow and piano with Andrej Stojanow at the National Music Academy in Sofia , further composition studies followed in 1937 in Vienna with Joseph Marx and from 1938 to 1940 in Berlin with Heinz Tiessen . In 1940 he returned to Sofia, where he taught at his old academy.

He was one of the most productive and most performed composers in his country in the 20th century; His work includes 21 operas , 6 operettas , 3 musicals and 1  ballet , as well as sketches and small dance suites for orchestra, chamber music works, piano pieces, stage, radio and film music, mass choirs and songs . He has been the namesake of the Chadschiev Glacier on Alexander I Island in Antarctica since 2017 .
