The Parasnath is with 1365 meters the highest mountain in the Indian state of Jharkhand and a major pilgrimage of the religious community of Jainism .

The mountain lies to the east of the Hazaribag Plateau. It is named after Parshvanata , the 23rd thirtankara of the Jainas, who, according to legend , reached nirvana here . There are 24 temples on the top of the mountain, which symbolize the 24 thirthankaras of the Jainas. They can be reached by walking 11 km from Madhuban village.
