Paredes do Bairro is a place and a former municipality in the central region of Portugal .

history

Paredes do Bairro received its first city rights on December 20, 1519 by King D. Manuel , who made it the seat of a separate district.

In the course of the administrative reforms after the Liberal Revolution in 1822 , the district and municipality of Paredes do Bairro were dissolved in 1835.

In 1985 the community became independent again.

In the course of the regional reform in Portugal in 2013 , the municipalities of Paredes do Bairro, Amoreira da Gândara and Ancas were merged to form the new municipality of Amoreira da Gândara, Paredes do Bairro e Ancas .

Paredes do Bairro was a parish ( freguesia ) in the district ( concelho ) of Anadia , in the district of Aveiro . The community had 994 inhabitants on an area of ​​6.56 km² (as of June 30, 2011).

With the municipal reorganization on September 29, 2013 , the municipalities of Paredes do Bairro, Ancas and Amoreira da Gândara were merged to form the new municipality of União das Freguesias de Amoreira da Gândara, Paredes do Bairro e Ancas . Amoreira da Gândara became the seat of the new municipality, while the municipal administrations in Paredes do Bairro and Ancas remained as citizens' offices.
