Amoreira da Gândara is a place and a former municipality in the central region of Portugal .
history
The village emerged around the Quinta de Amoreira da Gândara estate , which was first mentioned in a document dated November 24, 1495 by the nuns of the Santa Clara Monastery in Coimbra , to whom the area was subordinate. The present place is officially mentioned for the first time in the town charter of Sangalhos on August 20, 1514.
In 1928, Amoreira da Gândara became an independent municipality by being separated from the municipality of Sangalhos.
As part of the territorial reform in Portugal in 2013 , the municipalities of Amoreira da Gândara, Paredes do Bairro and Ancas were merged to form the new municipality of Amoreira da Gândara, Paredes do Bairro e Ancas .

Amoreira da Gândara was a parish ( freguesia ) in the district ( concelho ) of Anadia , in the district of Aveiro . The community had 1056 inhabitants on an area of 9.05 km² (as of June 30, 2011).

With the municipal reorganization on September 29, 2013 , the municipalities of Amoreira da Gândara, Ancas and Paredes do Bairro were merged to form the new municipality of União das Freguesias de Amoreira da Gândara, Paredes do Bairro e Ancas . Amoreira da Gândara is the seat of the new parish.

The community is traditionally characterized by agriculture, especially viticulture . Amoreira da Gândara is part of the Portuguese growing region of the Bairrada .
The best-known industrial company in the municipality is probably the motorcycle helmet manufacturer Nexx , whose helmets are particularly popular in motorsport.
