Nexx Helmets is the brand name of the Portuguese company Nexxpro, a manufacturer of helmets for motorcycles from Amoreira da Gândara . Today it is one of the few motorcycle helmet manufacturers who still manufacture their products entirely in Europe.

Nexx produces all types of helmets (full, jet and modular helmets). All Nexx helmets are developed and manufactured in the plant in Portugal at the company's headquarters in Amoreira da Gândara; The sale and distribution takes place worldwide in over 60 countries (as of 2019). history

The company was founded in 2001 by Helder Loureiro in Amoreira da Gândara, a municipality in the Anadia district.

Nexx was the first company in Portugal helmets composite - fibers produced. The company became known for its helmets for motorsport, later also for a jeans-covered helmet and helmets in cooperation with luxury brands such as Hugo Boss and Swarovski .

In 2011, certification according to ISO 9001 was carried out by TÜV Rheinland .

In 2018, a major fire in a production area where the chemical production materials were stored caused supraregional reporting. 59 firefighters were deployed in 20 emergency vehicles from the surrounding districts ( concelhos ), who quickly got the fire under control. There was damage of around one million euros. According to company owner Loureiro, there was no evidence of arson, and the insurance company had promised to settle it quickly so that production could be resumed very quickly.

Helmets for India

The company's most important social commitment is the Helmets for India initiative . In India there is a lot of motorcycling, due to the not very widespread use of helmets, 192 people die in motorcycle accidents every day. The company provides information about the effects and use of motorcycle helmets and distributes helmets to families in particular in a funding program.

The German athlete Niels-Peter Jensen initiated the campaign under the impression of personal experiences in India. He is one of five other well-known artists, designers and drivers who create special helmets for the project. The others are Dean Stockton (D * Face), Sami Graystone (Physical Graffiti), Carsten Estermann, Shivaji Ghosh (Moto Machao) and Satyaveni (Womeneoteric Customs).
