Gwang-tae Park
Park Gwang-tae (born June 2, 1943 in Gogeum , Jeollanam-do ) is a South Korean politician and since July 2002 mayor of the city of Gwangju .
Park Gwang-tae was born in 1943 in Gogeum on Wando Island , the largest island in Wando County. He studied at Chosun University and graduated there in February 1969. In the 1970s he was a member of the Democratic Unification Party and was imprisoned from 1974 to 1975 under the emergency ordinances. September 1998 him at Chosun University , the honorary doctorate awarded. Park has been the mayor of Gwangju, the capital of Jeollanam-do Province, since July 2002. From October 2002 he belonged to the Sae-cheonnyeon-minju-dang ( 새천년 민주당 , Democratic Party of the New Millennium). This went in 2008 in the Minju Party ( 민주당 , Democratic Party).
