history

In 1845 the neurologist Friedrich Gustav Bräunlich (1800–1875) acquired the Lindenhof, which was first mentioned in a document in 1783 and converted the estate into a mental hospital; As early as 1835 he had owned a sanatorium for the mentally ill in the neighboring Niederlößnitz with Wackerbarths Ruh ' , which he gave up when he moved. His Lindenhof went to a new owner on August 1, 1891, Reginald H. Pierson , who laid out a park until 1892 and built patient villas in the Swiss style, a farm building and a community building. The facilities also served as a mental hospital for the “better society”. After the First World War, it was not possible to continue operating the clinic for economic reasons. The entire clinic complex is a listed building and for this reason, too, should be preserved in its entirety as an area monument.

In 1920 it was converted into a sanatorium for tuberculosis sufferers . In 1931, a modern building complex was added as a surgical clinic . The clinic has been an academic teaching hospital of the Medical University Clinic in Dresden since 1996 . After further new construction measures, the new bed building, the new intensive therapy station and the reconstructed operating theaters were ready for occupancy in 2003 . In 2007, the reconstruction of the old clinic building was completed with the creation of a new infection ward and the oncological day clinic with 6 beds was opened. In the next few years there were various other construction measures such as the renovation of the radiological department and the social building, which became medical practices. Among other things, a new cafe opened and a station became a pulmonary intensive care unit rebuilt (PINT). The palliative care unit was opened in 2016 and the East German Lung Center and the competence network for lung diseases were founded a year later.
