The building at Parkstraße 5 in the Bavarian municipality of Thundorf in Lower Franconia in the Bad Kissingen district is one of the Thundorf architectural monuments and is registered in the Bavarian Monument List under number D-6-72-157-8 .

history

The house was built by an unknown builder. It could have been made around 1700 or around 1750. It is a half-timbered house with the man figures typical of Lower Franconia made of head angle wood and long foot braces .

Around 1820 the house was owned by the Klopf family. Before that, the property is said to have housed an inn. When Maurer Saal married into the Klopf family in 1888, it came into the possession of Maurer Saal and his descendants. The half-timbered structure in the basement was replaced by brickwork around 1900 .; In 1922, the previously plastered framework was exposed. The roof was renovated in 1974 and the facade in 1978.

In 1921, on the occasion of the primacy of a son of the family, a figure of the Madonna allegedly made by the sculptor Heinz Schiestl was attached to the facade of the house. In 1974, due to need of restoration, it was replaced by the current Madonna figure, cast from artificial stone by the Aschach sculptor Ludwig Bauer and located under a protective tin roof on the gable of the house. The Madonna figure from 1921 is in the Thundorf town hall .
