In the early parliamentary elections in Chechnya in 2016 , the 41 members of the Chechen parliament were elected for a five-year term. It was held at the same time as the parliamentary elections in Russia in 2016 and the general election in Chechnya in 2016 and thus took place on September 18, 2016.

Electoral system

The election takes place as a proportional representation in which several electoral lists run in just one constituency for the entire Chechen Republic . The 41 mandates of parliament are distributed to all electoral lists that have exceeded the prescribed five percent threshold .

To register an electoral list, 3328 to 3661 signatures had to be collected, which is 0.5% of the population. The number of candidates on an electoral list should be 41 to 62 people:
