Parti Social-Democrate
The Social Democratic Party ( fr . Parti Social-Démocrate ) is a political party in Benin .
The PSD was founded in 1990. Together with the National Union for Solidarity and Progress (UNSP), the PSD won the parliamentary elections in February 1991 , the PSD won 9.8% of the vote and eight out of 64 seats in the National Assembly .
The first ordinary party congress began on January 29, 2000; this was the first party congress in ten years. 700 delegates attended the congress and a national board of 19 members was elected at the congress. Bruno Amoussou was elected President of the party on this occasion, while Felix Adimi was named Vice President and Emmanuel Golou was named Secretary General.
Amoussou was the PSD candidate in the 2001 presidential election . He won 8.6% of the vote in the first round on March 4, 2001, finishing fourth. The second and third placed contested the elections and boycotted the second round, so it was up to Amoussou President Mathieu Kérékou to oppose in the second round on March 18, in which he received 15.9%. In the parliamentary elections of March 30, 2003, the party of the presidential movement, the Alliance, was the supporter of Mathieu Kérékous.
In the presidential elections on March 5, 2006, the PSD candidate, Amoussou, won 16.29% of the vote.
In the parliamentary elections in March 2007 , the PSD was part of the Alliance pour une Dynamique Démocratique , which won a total of 20 seats.
The PSD is a full member of the Socialist International .
