Partido Nueva Alianza

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Partido Nueva Alianza or short Nueva Alianza (German: New Alliance; PANAL ) is a liberal political party in Mexico .

history

PANAL was founded on January 30, 2005 by the National Union of Education Workers (Teachers 'Union) (Sindicato Nacional de Trabajadores de la Educación, SNTE), the largest teachers' union in America and the largest union in Latin America . As a result, the SNTE broke with the Partido Revolucionario Institucional (PRI), with which the union had been linked since it was founded in the 1930s. The reason for the break is seen as the conflict between SNTE chairman Elba Esther Gordillo and the PRI.

The first chairman was Miguel Ángel Jiménez Godínez , followed in 2006 by Tomás Ruiz González . PANAL candidate for the 2006 presidential election was former PRI member Roberto Campa Cifrián . Campa Cifrián won 0.96% of the vote, but the party was more successful in the congressional elections that took place at the same time, where PANAL won 10 seats in the Chamber of Deputies and one in the Senate .

The party leader has been Luis Castro Obregón since 2011 .

Alignment

The party calls itself a liberal party. She is a full member of the Liberal International , but in many ways a party to the interests of teachers. Education policy makes up a large part of the party's program.
