Partidul Nostru ( Russian Наша партия ) is a Moldovan political party . The party, originally founded in 1994, has been headed by entrepreneur Renato Usatîi since 2014 . Since the takeover by Usatîi, the former small party changed its profile and became one of the leading forces in the country. Since then she has taken EU-skeptical and pro-Russian positions.

history

The party was founded in 1994 as Partidul Țărănesc Creştin Democrat din Moldova ( Christian Democratic Peasant Party of Moldova ). In the local elections in 1995, almost 19.7% of the votes were won and numerous mayors were appointed. A move into the parliament succeeded in 1998 when the party was part of the electoral bloc "Democratic Assembly of Moldova". At this point in time, she represented more pro-Western, nationally conservative positions. In 2001 the re-entry into parliament failed with 0.3% of the vote. In 2004 Nicolae Andronic became the new chairman of the party, and in 2005 the party was renamed Partidul Popular Republican . The entry into parliament failed again in 2005 with 1.37% of the votes, although the party continued to play a certain role in local politics. In 2010 the party bottomed out when only 0.12% of the vote was obtained in the general election.

New start under Renato Usatîi

In 2014 the entrepreneur Renato Usatîi joined the party and shortly afterwards took over its leadership. Usatîi had lived in Russia for more than a decade, had become wealthy there and had just returned to Moldova. Since then, the party has been strongly tailored to the person of Usatîis, who is particularly popular among younger people. In the 2014 parliamentary elections, the party, which in polls was over 10%, was excluded from this a few days before the election - officially because of undeclared party donations. Usatîi suspected a political motive and appealed against it, which was definitely rejected one day before the election. This decision was criticized at home and abroad, for example by the American embassy in Chișinău , the German Bundestag member Andrej Hunko , the head of the EU delegation in Moldova, Pirkka Tapiola , and the chairman of the Moldovan constitutional court. The party is therefore not represented in parliament.

In the local elections in 2015, the Partidul Nostru received 11.15% of the vote. The greatest success was achieved in Bălți , the second largest city in the country, where Usatîi was elected mayor with 72.5% of the vote. During the protests against the Moldovan government from September 2015, the Partidul Nostru, together with the socialists and the civil platform "Demnitate şi Adevăr", took the lead. In October 2015, Usatîi was arrested for several days after he published a telephone recording alleging that Vlad Filat was involved in corruption scandals.

In a survey from December 2015, the Partidul Nostru was the country's strongest political force.

In the parliamentary elections in Moldova in 2019 , the party only received 2.95% of the vote and is therefore still not represented in parliament.

Positions

The party is generally seen as pro-Russian and EU-skeptical. Partidul Nostru election posters are generally printed in both Romanian and Russian. Usatîi, however, describes himself as "pro-Moldovan", which primarily refers to his opposition to unification with Romania.
