Partnership for Advanced Computing in Europe
Partnership for Advanced Computing in Europe (PACE or PRACE) is a European initiative to bundle the computing power of high-performance computers in 25 European countries.
history
PACE was founded on April 17, 2007. The consortium leader is the German Gauss Center for Supercomputing , founded four days earlier , which bundles the computing power of the three large German high-performance computer centers in Jülich , Stuttgart and Garching .
On January 1, 2008, a two-year preparatory phase began with a budget of 20 million euros. The participating states and the EU intend to invest a total of 500 million euros in expanding the structure.
