Pascal Attinger

Pascal Attinger (* 1952 in Neuchâtel NE ) is a Swiss ancient orientalist .

Life

Pascal Attinger studied Greek , French literature , Akkadian and linguistics at the University of Neuchâtel from 1971 to 1975 . From 1973 to 1977 he was a research assistant at the Institut de linguistique at the University of Neuchâtel with Georges Redard and Claude Sandoz . Since 1976 he has been specializing in the ancient languages ​​of the Middle East at the University of Geneva and the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich . From 1987 to 1992 he was teaching Sumerian and Akkadian at the University of Bern . With the dissertation Eléments de linguistique sumérienne 1992 he became a PhD .

From 1992 to 1998 he taught as an assistant at the Institute for Near Eastern Archeology and Ancient Near Eastern Languages ​​at the University of Bern. He received his habilitation in ancient oriental languages ​​in 1993 . He had a teaching position for Sumerian and Akkadian at the University of Geneva from 1994 to 1996. In 1997 he was appointed adjunct professor at the University of Bern. Since 1998 he has been a lecturer at the University of Bern. In 2007 he gave a lecture cycle Tableau grammatical du sumérien at the École pratique des hautes études in Paris . Since 2008 he has been an associate professor at the University of Bern.

His main research interests are Sumerian grammar, lexicography and literature.
