The Paschensee is a lake in the far northwest of the municipality of Plau am See in the Ludwigslust-Parchim district in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania . It borders on the municipality of Neu Poserin on the entire south bank and is not far east of the Neu Poserin district of Wooster Teerofen.
The poorly structured lake is kidney-shaped. It was created as a dead ice shape during the last ice age . It is embedded in a sander landscape that towers around the lake and extends into the underlying moraine of the Frankfurt ice advance. In the 1930s, carp and eels were introduced into the lake. The use of fishing ended in 1985 when the lake was fished and has been considered to be poorly fishable ever since.
The mesotrophic limestone lake is about 1100 meters long and up to 582 meters wide. The lakeshore is completely wooded.
The lake lies entirely in the Paschensee nature reserve and in the Nossentiner / Schwinzer Heide nature reserve .
