Scheme of the passage Tombs

The remains of the Passage Tombs of Shrough (also called Galtymore) lie in a forest east of the R664 (road) on the summit of the border near Shrough Hill in the townland of Shrough ( Irish Sruth na Gamhnaí ) in County Tipperary near Galbally in County Limerick in Ireland . The classic Passage Tomb is a form of the megalithic complex that is characteristic of Northern Ireland and the north of the Republic of Ireland in 219 specimens and also occurs in Leinster , Munster and, in a few specimens, in Great Britain .

The large cairn has been preserved up to a height of 1.0 meters and includes a trigonometric point on the eastern edge . The remains of the small rectangular chamber are off-center and consist of two orthostats on each side, with a half-stone at the west end. The east end and ceiling of the only Passage Tomb in County Tipperary with its oval chamber, which is 1.5 m long and 1.2 m wide inside, are open.
