The Archbishop's Pater-Rupert-Mayer-Gymnasium (PRMG) is located in Pullach south of Munich . It is part of the day care center in Pullach , which also includes the Pater-Rupert-Mayer-Realschule, the Pater-Rupert-Mayer-Volksschule and the Marga-Müller-Kindergarten in Pullach. Its sponsor is the Archdiocese of Munich and Freising .

The state-approved Catholic grammar school has its own school church from the time when Jesuits worked here .

The high school

The name of the Pater-Rupert-Mayer-Gymnasium is the canonized Jesuit Rupert Mayer , a Catholic resistance fighter against the Nazi regime .

About 530 students are currently attending the Pater-Rupert-Mayer-Gymnasium; the entire school center has around 1400 pupils and kindergarten children. You can choose between a linguistic and a scientific-technological direction.

The grammar school and the entire school center is an open day home school - all-day school with study time in the afternoon  - up to the ninth grade.

history

Today's school complex was built for the Berchmanskolleg of the Jesuits. Construction began on the 112-meter-long main wing with a central tower projection and the central chapel in the inner courtyard. The architects were Georg Guinin and Richard Müller. On January 31, 1926, today's school chapel was consecrated by Cardinal Faulhaber (then Archbishop of Munich and Freising) after the first Holy Mass was celebrated in the church on Christmas Eve 1925.

On July 21, 1969, the Katholisches Familienwerk bought the teaching facility from the Jesuits and relocated the grammar school and the secondary school to the northern wing of the main complex. In July 1971 the last Jesuits moved to Munich's Kaulbachstrasse, near the Siegestor, and the kindergarten and elementary school moved into the main complex.

At the beginning of the 1973/74 school year, the grammar school and secondary school received state recognition from the Bavarian Ministry of Education . On November 21, 1978, the grammar school received its current name, also from the Bavarian Ministry of Education . After the dissolution of the Katholisches Familienwerk (KFW) was decided on July 12, 1993 at the general assembly of the Katholisches Familienwerk, the Archdiocese of Munich and Freising took over the sponsorship on January 10, 1994. Subsequently, the school building began to be expanded and renovated. So in 1997 the inauguration of a newly built triple gymnasium followed. In February 2004 the last renovation work on the Jesuit building was completed. Since then, a modern auditorium with elaborate stage technology as well as a library and a large art hall have been available.

On June 19, 2015, the foundation stone was laid for the new construction of a south-facing building, which includes the elementary school, kindergarten and crèche. At the beginning of the 2017/18 school year, the primary school and crèche moved from the main building to the new south-facing building, which was built according to modern environmental standards. The elementary school, which had been relocated in containers up to this point, also moved to the new southern building complex.
