Pathos is a Swedish progressive and power metal band from Gothenburg that was formed in 1995.

history

The band was formed in May 1995. In the autumn of the same year the band recorded their first demo in their hometown of Trollhättan . At the same time, singer Stefan Carlsson also joined the cast. In 1996 the band reached a contract with Liphone Metal . The debut album Hoverface was released in 1997 at Lirec Studios in Uddevalla, Sweden . Later that year, the band switched to Black Mark Production and re-released the album on this label, with a new cover design. On March 23, 1998, work began on the second album Uni Versus Universe . During the recording the group separated from Black Mark and in September 1998 released the album via Liphone Metal only in Sweden. The last gig with singer Stefan Carlsson took place in December 1999, before Paul Schöning joined the band as the new singer in the summer of 2000. In August the band recorded a demo in Gothenburg. In 2001 the band signed a contract with Roastinghouse Productions .

In February 2002 the band recorded their next album Katharsis with producer Anders "Theo" Theander ( Majestic , Pain of Salvation , Last Tribe , Midnight Sun ) . The cover was designed by Niklas Sundin . The album was released on Massacre Records that same year .

style

The band plays progressive power metal, with strong influences from bands like Nevermore being audible.
