Elsa Patria Jiménez Flores (* 1957 in San Luis Potosi , Mexico ) is a Mexican politician .

Since the 1997 general election, Jiménez has been the first openly gay member of the Mexican parliament . As a politician, she belongs to the Partido de la Revolución Democrática (PRD) party. Jiménez is the chairwoman of the Mexican LGBT organization El Clóset de Sor Juana . The organization is approved by the UN as an NGO organization. The name of the LGT organization is reminiscent of the Catholic nun and poet Juana Inés de la Cruz .
