Patricia Danzi

Patricia Danzi (* 13 February 1969 as Patricia Nadler ) is a Swiss Office Director of the Federal Office and former athlete. The environmental and agricultural scientist moved from the management of the Africa region of the International Committee of the Red Cross on May 1, 2020 to succeed Manuel Sager to the post of Director of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC).

Life

Danzi was born in Switzerland and grew up in the canton of Zug . Her father came from Nigeria to the University of Friborg to do his doctorate . There he met a Swiss woman studying languages . Her father comes from Biafra and her grandfather died in the Biafra war . The environmental issue was important to her during her time at high school and at the age of 15 she applied to the ICRC for the first time without success . During her studies, she received an athletic scholarship in Nebraska for her athletic achievements . In 1996 she started in the heptathlon at the Summer Olympics and finished 23rd. She would have taken her ability to concentrate from sport into professional life. She completed her studies in geography and agricultural and environmental sciences .

Patricia Danzi worked for the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) from 1996 . Her first stay abroad took her to Goražde in Bosnia . She later worked in Latin America and then in Africa. From May 2015 to 2020 she headed the Africa Regional Directorate at the ICRC.

Patricia Danzi is the mother of two sons.
