Folke Bohlin, who was a member of Göteborgs Kungliga Segelsällskap , took part twice in the Olympic Games in the kite class . In 1948 he was the skipper of the Slaghöken regatta in London , whose crew also included Gösta Brodin and Hugo Johnson . With 4621 points they finished the competition behind the Norwegian boat led by Thor Thorvaldsen in second place and thus won the silver medal ahead of the Danes led by skipper William Berntsen . Bohlin's second Olympic participation came at the 1956 Olympic Games in Melbourne . Again he was the skipper of the Swedish boat, this time the Slaghöken II . Together with his crew members Bengt Palmquist and Leif Wikström they won three of the seven races and finished the regatta with 5723 points, tied with the Norwegian boat around Ole Berntsen in first place. However, due to the larger number of races won, the Swedes became Olympic champions . Third place went to the British boat led by Graham Mann .
