Gerald Click "Gerry" Schreck (born March 8, 1939 in Pensacola ) is a former American sailor .
successes
Gerald Schreck, who sailed for the Southern Yacht Club , took part in the 1968 Olympic Games in Mexico City as a crew member in the kite boat class . Together with skipper George Friedrichs and the other crew member Barton Jahncke , he became Olympic champion in front of the Danish boat led by Aage Birch and the boat from the GDR with skipper Paul Borowski . In seven races they achieved four wins and two second places, which is why they finished the regatta in first place with only six total points with one result, sixth place in the second race. In the previous year, Schreck, Jahncke and Friedrichs had already won the World Championships in Toronto . They were also North American champions from 1965 to 1967.
Schreck went to school in his native Pensacola before moving to New Orleans and joining the Southern Yacht Club . He worked professionally as a sail maker .
