Barton Williams Benedict Jahncke (born August 5, 1939 in New Orleans ) is a former American sailor .
successes
Barton Jahncke, who sailed for the Southern Yacht Club , took part in the 1968 Olympic Games in Mexico City as a crew member in the kite boat class . Together with skipper George Friedrichs and the other crew member Gerald Schreck , he became Olympic champion in front of the Danish boat led by Aage Birch and the boat from the GDR with skipper Paul Borowski . In seven races they achieved four wins and two second places, which is why they finished the regatta in first place with only six total points with one result, sixth place in the second race. In the previous year, Jahncke, Friedrichs and Schreck had already won the World Championships in Toronto . They were also North American champions from 1965 to 1967.
Jahncke is a graduate of Tulane University . At Lykes Bros. Steamship Co. , he rose to Vice President in 1974.
