Patricia Thatcher

Patricia Patsy Loraine Thatcher is an Australian anthropologist.

Her main research area is East Timor , which she has been dealing with for decades. Her master's thesis from 1992 was entitled The Timor-Born in Exile in Australia . Thatcher studied at the Department of Anthropology and Sociology at Monash University in Melbourne, Australia . For the work she interviewed the local population and documented the otherwise oral history of the Timorese. Together with James E. Coughlan, Thatcher published the work South East Asian Refugees in Australia: Immigrants from Cambodia, East Timor, Laos and Viet Nam - A Demographic and Socio-Economic Profile from the 1991 Census at Bangkok's Chulalongkorn University in 1996 .

In 2014, Thatcher received the Insígnia des Ordem de Timor-Leste from East Timor's President Taur Matan Ruak .
