Patrick Barth (born September 30, 1949 in Forbach ) is a former French soccer goalkeeper and current goalkeeper and soccer coach .

Career

Barth played in his youth in the local football club of Petite-Rosselle . In 1969 he joined the first division club FC Metz , where he was initially a substitute. From the 1970/71 season he was increasingly used in Division 1 and was at times the club's goalkeeper. After a fracture of the elbow joint , however, he had to pause and then did not find his way back to his old strength. After André Rey inherited him as the first goalkeeper, he moved to the amateur field at FC Thionville in 1976 . With the team he rose from Division d'Honneur to Division 2 . In the 1979/80 season he was a regular here, in the following season he played only one league game. Between 1981 and 1989 he let his career end again in the amateur field. First he played for US Forbach until 1985 , then for US Morsbach .

From 1981 Barth ran a sports shop in Forbach. Later he got involved in regional amateur sport in goalkeeping training. In 2000 there was renewed contact between him and FC Metz, which subsequently hired him as a goalkeeping coach for his training center and later the professional team. Barth was in office until 2005, before he gave up the office after problems with his knee and a subsequent operation.
