history

The place shares the older history with the neighboring town Großrosseln . The community of Rosseln an der Rossel , a left tributary of the Saar , was mentioned in 1290. In 1326 a Huberossel is mentioned which is associated with small thrushes . Today the Rossel forms the border between Germany and France, but Petite-Rosselle and Großrosseln are partner communities.
