Thonville is a French commune with 47 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Moselle department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Lorraine ), about 34 kilometers east of Metz .
history
The place was mentioned in 1324 as Oderstorph . Then Oderstorf (1365), Otthonville (1368), Oderstorff (1387 and 1450), Thonuille (1621).
The small village was occupied and annexed by France in 1552, which was recognized in the Peace of Westphalia in 1648 .
From 1871 to 1918 it belonged temporarily to the German Empire , but French remained the official and colloquial language.
In the years 1915 to 1918 and again during the Nazi occupation 1940–1944 , Thonville was given the name "Odersdorf" by the German authorities.
From December 1, 1973 to August 3, 1985 Thonville was incorporated into the neighboring town of Brulange .
