Helstroff (German Helsdorf , Lorraine Helschtroff ) is a French commune with 535 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Moselle department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Lorraine ).

geography

The municipality of Helstroff is located about 20 kilometers east of Metz on the A4 Autoroute (Paris – Strasbourg).

history

The place was initially part of the Luxembourg exclave Rollingen , was part of France from 1769 to 1871, to the German Empire from 1871 to 1918, and from 1918 to France again.

In 1811 the northern village of Macker ( Machern ) was incorporated.
