Teting-sur-Nied (German Tetingen ) is a French commune with 1305 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Moselle department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Lorraine ), about 37 kilometers east of Metz .

The place was first mentioned as Tatinga in 1273 and has belonged to France since 1766. From 1871–1918 it was temporarily part of the German Empire again .

During the Nazi occupation (1940-1944) the German authorities changed the place name to Tetlingen .

Until December 31, 1947, the official French place name was simply Téting .

The village of Métring ( Metringen ) to the south , which was first mentioned in 843 as Menturis , also belongs to the municipality .
