geography

The municipality is located in the north of the historic Lorraine region near the border with Germany , five kilometers west of Sarreguemines . It has a northern district called Cadenbronn .

history

There were already settlements here in Gallo-Roman times . The village was first mentioned in 875 as Notumwilre .
