Folkling (German: Folklingen ) is a French commune with 1303 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Moselle department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Lorraine ). It belongs to the Forbach-Boulay-Moselle arrondissement , the Stiring-Wendel canton and the Forbach Porte de France municipal association .

geography

Folkling is about four kilometers south of Forbach and therefore close to the border with Saarland .

history

The community was first mentioned in 1266 as Folchelinga . Other names were Fourkelinges (1280), Folkelingen (1395), Folkelinga (1544), Foleckling (1801) and Folckling (1900).

Attractions

  • Saint-Eloi church, built in 1725 and expanded in the 19th century. The church furniture includes a high altar with a canopy , a relic of Saint Valentin and a pulpit from the 18th century.
