Elvange ( German Elwingen , Lorraine Ilwingen ) is a French commune with 398 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Moselle department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Lorraine ). It belongs to the Forbach-Boulay-Moselle arrondissement and the Faulquemont canton .

geography

The municipality of Elvange is located on the Deutsche Nied , about twelve kilometers southwest of Saint-Avold at an altitude between 227 and 305 meters above sea level. The municipality covers 7.12 km².

history

The village has belonged to France since 1766. From 1871 to 1918 it was temporarily part of the German Empire again .
