Gréning (German Greningen ) is a French commune with 131 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Moselle department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Lorraine ). It belongs to the Forbach-Boulay-Moselle arrondissement .

The village is located in the northeast of the historic Lorraine region , about 20 kilometers south of the border town of Freyming-Merlebach .

history

The place was first mentioned as Grenange in 1337 . Other names were Grumingen (1594), Gremingen (1606) and Grening (1751).
