geography
The place is in the north of the historic Lorraine region , three kilometers south of Villing and three kilometers from the German-French border.
history
The community was first mentioned in 1121 as Rimeringa . Other spellings were Remeringa (1179), Reimering (1793), Reimring (1801), Rémering-lès-Hargarten and Rémering (since 1993).
